NEA White Paper: Artist Employment Projections to 2018

For the first time, the National Endowment for the Arts reports on future job prospects for artist occupations, based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook: 2010-11, which forecasts trends for the U.S. labor force from 2008-2018. Artist occupations with the highest projected growth rates are museum technicians and conservators (26%), curators (23%), landscape architects (20%), interior designers (19%), architects (16%), writers and authors (15%), and multimedia artists and animators (14%).
