Ai Weiwei Disappears into China's State Security Apparatus Just Prior to His Debut NYC Public Art Commission

Shortly before the dedication of his first New York City public art commission - featuring super sized Chinese zodiac figures - artist Ai Weiwei was detained on April 3 as he was about to board a plane at a Beijing airport. Ai's art installation is slated to be mounted on May 2.
