At a storefront clinic in SoHo ailing New Yorkers are invited to come in by appointment and be treated by means of exposure to fine art for a variety of physical and psychological ailments. Founder, artist Alexander Melamid, believes in "the power of art, its power to galvanize, fortify, stimulate, rouse, soothe and enlighten," noting, "I was always told that art was good for me, but until recently I didn't know what it was good for." Twenty minute sessions cost $125 and ideally, as with psychiatric treatment, art healing treatment is recommended to go on indefinitely.
