The ante is upped for style-conscious New Yorkers come Fashion Week (September 10-17), a biannual affair that turns Bryant Park into a tent city of the rich and famous, who get an eyeful of what designer threads they'll be sporting in the months to come. Haute couture is available to all in several museum exhibitions and tours that coincide with Fashion Week. On September 15 and 16, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will offer a cross-cultural guided tour that focuses on how artists have used clothing to express identity and influence from the sixth century B.C. through modern times.
