Current Reports

The Alliance is a pioneer in research on the cultural community in the city, state and region. Our groundbreaking economic impact studies going back to 1983 prove that the arts are a vital industry in New York, an economic engine which strengthens and supports other industries, such as tourism and the commercial arts. Our arts research is used every day by cultural leaders, funders and policy makers--and it is the foundation of our advocacy work.

Research in Action

We want to hear from you.  The Open Society Foundations recently used and cited an Alliance report in its case statement for the announcement of its $11 million in grants to NYC performing arts groups.  How do you use the Alliance's research?  We invite you to let us know by commenting directly in the Journal on our site.  Let us know which research you've found valuable and use this opportunity to begin a new dialogue about what additional kinds of research would be helpful and why.
