A Metropolitan Opera High Note, as Donations Hit $182 Million

The venerable 128 year old Metropolitan Opera recorded record contributions ($182 Million) for its last fiscal year. Crediting profits of $11 million from its breakthrough HD movie theater events, the Met has balanced its budget for the first time in seven years. But in spite of the success of Met HD - that now reaches 1600 an audience of nearly 3 million a season - the Met continues to struggle financially with $41 million in debt and declining ticket sales..
