NONPROFIT CULTURAL GROUPS AFFECTED BY RECESSION
Nearly 80 percent of the nonprofit groups report they already have or are planning to
make budget cuts according to a new survey by the Alliance. Almost half are canceling or postponing programs, 42 percent are planning to lay off employees and 68 percent have a hiring freeze in place. The results from the survey on the impact of the economic crisis were published in Crain's and the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Randall Bourscheidt, president of the Alliance, was also interviewed on WNYC about the recession's effect on arts organizations in New York City.
