NEW YORK - December 16, 2008 - The Alliance for the Arts announced a unique promotion, designed to encourage support of New York's diverse spectrum of cultural organizations this holiday season. Beginning today through mid-January, the Alliance's Web sites, NYC-ARTS.org and NYCkidsARTS.org, will feature a collection of significant discounts and incentives pertaining to memberships, subscriptions, tickets and gift shops at museums, theaters, performance venues and other cultural institutions city wide.
The Give the Gift of Culture collections are available in the "Things to Do" sections of the Web sites at www.NYC-ARTS.org/collections and www.NYCkidsARTs.org/collections. Visitors to the Web sites and New York's cultural institutions are encouraged to think about sharing their love of the arts when giving gifts this holiday season.
"New York's reputation as a cultural epicenter is vital to city's vibrant economy and social fabric," said Randall Bourscheidt, president of Alliance for the Arts. "In today's difficult economic climate, supporting our cultural institutions is a gift that not only benefits the recipient but all New Yorkers."
Underwritten by the City of New York and produced by people entrenched in the scene, the Alliance's Web sites, NYC-ARTS.org and NYCkidsARTS.org, now in beta testing, serve as a one-stop compendium of real-time information on cultural institutions and their events for city residents, tourists, parents and teachers.
