As the much heralded new home of the Film Society of Lincoln Center opens its David Rockwell designed Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music's BAMcinemaFest begins, New Yorkers can partake in a cinema feast. Both environments are attuned to making the movie theater a destination by including spaces that emphasize the communal social aspects of movie going, as do houses and spaces throughout the boroughs such as the newly refurbished Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria Queens and pop-up screenings in Dumbo in clubs, galleries, warehouses and empty lots
