Department of City Planning Celebrates 100 Rezonings

The Department of City Planning is celebrating 100 rezonings since 2002, affecting about one-fifth of the city, with a new pamphlet that highlights rezonings between 2003 and 2009. In a number of cases, the City's new zoning encouraged the development of new spaces for the visual and performing arts (125th Street in Harlem, Coney Island in Brooklyn) and allowed greater flexibility in new cultural development (West Chelsea/The High Line).
