El Museo del Barrio Reopens

On October 17 El Museo del Barrio will celebrate its 40th anniversary and the reopening of its newly renovated building on Museum Mile with Latin music shows, book readings and art-making workshops. Highlights of the museum's permanent collection of Caribbean, Latino and Latin American art, as well as the special exhibition Nexus New York: Latin/American Artists in the Modern Metropolis, will be on view. El Museo was founded in 1969 at PS 125 on West 123rd Street and moved to its Upper Fifth Avenue home in the fall of 1977. For more information, click here.
