MAYOR BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES FINANCIAL PLAN
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the Financial Plan for fiscal year 2007 on January 31. For the Department of Cultural Affairs, the plan includes a 3.5 percent reduction applied to a baseline of $104.7 million, resulting in a proposed Expense Budget, including technical adjustments, of $101.6 million. This baseline excludes one-time additions to the current budget, which are allocated at the time of adoption. The current expense budget totals $136.8 million. Credit goes to Cultural Affairs Commissioner Kate D. Levin, who met the 1.7 percent target in the current year so that cultural organizations were spared further reductions. The projected capital appropriations for the Department of Cultural Affairs total $803 million.
