Museum Attendance Rankings Announced

According to the Art Newspaper's 15th annual survey of museum attendance, four New York City museums ranked among the most-visited museums in 2009. The Metropolitan Museum of Art was third with 4.8 million visitors; the Louvre ranked first with 8.5 million visitors and the British Museum ranked second with 5.5 million visitors (numbers rounded). The Museum of Modern Art was eleventh with 2.6 million visitors; the Solomon R. Guggenheim was 33rd with 1.2 million visitors; the Whitney Museum was 140th with 300,000 visitors.
