NEA Releases Three Reports on Arts Participation

Three reports published in February are available from the National Endowment for the Arts: Arts Education in America: What the Declines Mean for Arts Participation; Beyond Attendance: A Multi-Modal Understanding of Arts Participation; and Age and Arts Participation: A Case Against Demographic Destiny. The analysis in each report is based on data collected by the 2008 Survey of Public Participation in the Arts (SPPA). The reports confirm the importance of arts education, argue for a more expansive system to measure arts participation and challenge the notion of the "graying" of arts audiences.
