The Kitchen has appointed Tim Griffin executive director and chief curator, beginning September, 2011. Griffin was most recently editor of Artforum.

A.I.R. Gallery has announced its new gallery director, Julie Lohnes, who will start on June 14. Lohnes was formerly director of DFN Gallery in New York City, Chase Gallery in Boston, and most recently worked with Forum Gallery in New York City.

Elsie McCabe Thompson, president of the Museum for African Art, received a Ford Foundation Visionary Award for her decade of work that will result in establishing the new Museum for African Art on Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile, bringing African culture to new audiences.
