BROOKLYN CHILDREN'S MUSEUM REOPENS

On Saturday, September 20 the Brooklyn Children's Museum will reopen to the public after undergoing a year of renovation and expansion. A special discounted admission rate will be in effect until December 1, 2008 as well as free Friday night admission from September 26 until October 24, 2008. THE CANDIDATE AND THE ARTS

Click here to learn about cultural institutions and media outlets offering resources for students, teachers and parents about the American electoral system, presidential history and the larger political process. The Museum of the City of New York and the New-York Historical Society are just two places with shows on the history of the presidency and elections and PBS and Thirteen provide robust information on American politics.

ArtsVote is a national initiative run by Americans for the Arts to help the arts impact the presidential election. Its Web site provides information to advocates and campaign staff who are working on arts and arts education issues. FUND FOR CREATIVE COMMUNITIES GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE

The Fund for Creative Communities will award grants ranging from $750 to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations and artists for projects that benefit the city's communities. Applications are due September 23, 2008 and will be evaluated by a panel of artists and arts professionals. For more information and to apply, click here.

NYC PUBLIC ARTS

Creative Time's Convergence Center exhibition will open on September 21 at the Park Avenue Armory. It will feature work by over 40 artists and speeches by political thinkers, community leaders and activists. The exhibition is part of the year-long program Democracy in America: The National Campaign and is presented by Creative Time in association with the Park Avenue Armory. PEOPLE

Thomas P. Campbell has been named director and CEO of the Metropolitan Museum of Art effective January 1, 2009. He is currently curator of the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts as well as Supervising Curator of the Museum's Antonio Ratti Textile Center.

Steve Warnick has been appointed executive director of P.S. 122. He was previously co-founder and producing director of Next Move Theatre Company in Boston.

Joanne Bernstein-Cohen has been named executive director of the Little Orchestra Society. Previously she served as a consultant to the general manager of the Little Orchestra Society

Mara Manus has been named executive director of the Film Society of Lincoln Center effective mid-September. She is currently the executive director of Public Theater.
